Happy New year
We are halfway through the first month of 2024, and I don’t know about you, but I have already broken all my New Year’s resolutions – not least the one about writing to you more regularly. This email was supposed to land in your inboxes at the beginning of the year!
But, I am sure many of you, like me, struggle with the post-holiday blues.
I want to love January, I really, really do. But here on the south coast of England, it is cold, wet, windy and miserable. However, I want to pause to appreciate how lucky I am. I spent a few days in Cardiff at the beginning of the year and it was impossible to avoid the devastation caused by Hurricane Henk. If you or yours were affected, please imagine I am sending you a hug filled with comforting, chocolatey goodness.
In fact, I want to send virtual hugs to you all. I cannot express how much I have been humbled by your book reviews and messages of support over the past year. Many of you have read along with the adventures of Reverend Jess Ward, and I know you are itching to know what happens next. What lies in store for Jess in 2024?
Well, that’s up to you!
I am currently working with Steve Higgs on a brand-new series. If you love his Patricia Fisher books you should recognise the hero of my new books. I can’t say anything officially yet, but watch this space!
Once the first few books are in the bag, I will be returning to Reverend Jess and, whilst I have a few ideas, I would love to hear from you about what you think she should do next.
If you have any suggestions, you can email me at penelope@penelopecress.com, or post or send me a message on my Facebook page > https://www.facebook.com/PenelopeCressWriter
If I use your idea I will include your name in the credits.
In the meantime, I can tell you that, despite my rocky start, I plan to send out a newsletter every two weeks from here on in. If that sounds too much for you, please feel free to unsubscribe. Otherwise, I am looking forward to sharing with you more about what is happening in my world, giving you more insights into the books I am writing and getting your help and support in writing them. I would love to get to know more about you too. Please drop me a line. Tell me what you are reading and what TV series you are watching.
I am always in search of a new mystery to amuse me in the wee small hours. One of my most treasured gifts this Christmas was a box set of Hercule Poirot stories. I will be snuggling up to read those soon, once I finish my current book, the 2021 Kindle Storyteller Award winner – The Corfe Castle Murders by Rachel McLean. It’s been on my TBR pile for ages!
Until next time, happy reading!
Love,
Penelope
