Count Dogula, Scotland and Books!
It has been such an exciting couple of weeks since the launch of Death by Dickens.
The positive response has blown me away, and I hope if you have grabbed your copy and read it, that you enjoyed it.
I would love to hear from you about this series, or the Wesberrey books. I am putting the finishing touches to book three in the Mike Atwell series to go to Steve to approve. Then he sends it out to his very special ARC team, who read through it with a fine-tooth comb and return to us with plot holes, typos and comments.
The work on the Atwell series doesn’t mean Rev Jess is being ignored. I am drafting her next adventure as well. If you have any suggestions on where or what our psychic vicar should do next, please drop me a line.
On a personal front, I have a busy few weeks ahead. I am driving up to Scotland, via a stop-off in Leyland, near Preston, to visit with my best friend and see my godson for the first time. I am so excited to squish my chubby cheeks!
Once I am in Scotland, I will be staying with writer friends in a very special destination. Just check this out: https://www.dunskey.com/
This will be my lounge for four nights!
I plan to get a lot of writing done here during my stay (weather permitting).
The only regret I have about this trip is not being able to take my baby dog, Iggy, with me. The estate allows dogs, but as I am driving there, it’s too long a journey for him. He’s not the best in cars. This is an area I need to work on with him because leaving him behind is breaking my heart.
The sharper readers among you will recall that on my profile and my website, I say I have a Jack Russell Terrier, and I did, but he sadly passed during lockdown in 2020. Since he was there when Penelope Cress was born, he will remain Penelope’s best friend. This picture was taken just before he left us. He was very old and extremely ill, but remained the best-tempered baby ever.
Iggy and his litter mate, Ozzy, inspired Sharon Atwell’s dogs. I need to create a character with a JRT, too. Our old family dog, Cookie, inspired Alfie, the floppy-eared Golden Retriever in the Wesberrey books. Cookie’s seen here dressed as Count Dogula for Halloween.
I would love to see your pets. Aren’t they just the best?
Speak soon,
Love,
Penelope x
